Trinacria is the ancient symbol and name of Sicily, represented by the head of Medusa (Gorgon) with three bent legs (triskelion) and ears of wheat.
It derives from the Greek trinaks ("three points"), referring to the triangular shape of the island and its three promontories: Pelorus, Passero, and Lilibeo.
It symbolizes luck, fertility, and protection.
